We use the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework to move your child ahead developmentally, getting them ready for school teaching each child important social skills in an environment that is warm, nurturing and fun.

Children are eager to learn and keen to practise new skills. We provide endless opportunities for children to explore and investigate their surroundings at Siblings Nursery. Resources are chosen and activities are planned following children's interests. Staff are trained to look for schemas, which are children's learning styles, as children will learn different to one another and by using their schema will allow for learning to happen at a deeper level.
We engage children in planned educational and fun outings, invite visitors into the nursery such as Dentist, Fire Brigade etc and we have a Dance Teacher who attends weekly teaching our children cheerleading and street dancing.  It's all fun!

As children of this age are exploring around them, they will also explore and test boundaries within their peer group and with adults. Our team of childcare professionals will use a programme to support children through any unacceptable behaviour.  Mammys, Daddys and Carers will be kept informed at all times of any issues so we can work together to support every child.  There may be times where it is necessary to access external support, this will always be done through consultation with mammys, daddys and carers.  As qualified childcare professionals we have a duty of care to ensure the support is available for every child to learn to the best of their potential.

"It should be noted that children at play are not playing about, they games shopuld be seen as their most serious minded activity" - Montaigne.
At Siblings Nursery we pride ourselves on the relaxed, calm and friendly atmosphere that our dedicated staff have created to fulfil all needs of our children and families.

The environment enables children to explore, investigate and experiment with ease and confidence knowing caring and sensitive adults support them.

Children are able to participate in weekly Spanish lessons delivered by a qualified Spanish teacher - the children love these sessions and mange remarkably well with a second language.  There are also opportunities for outings to local places of interest - such as the pet shop, even the local supermarket - the children 'write' their own lists from instruction of the Nursery Cook and the amount of learning that is observed from these trips is fantastic!

It is essential to first understand the child’s personal interest and pace of learning. The more we learn and about and understand your child the more we can challenge your child in new and exciting ways and help them reach developmental goals.

Each child has an individual file detailing their 'learning journey' through the developmental milestones and each child is monitored by a key person on an ongoing basis using the six areas of learning within the foundation stage curriculum as part of the EYFS.  Every child will be assessed using the Flaying Start 2 - Baseline Assessment toolkit.  This is widely used throughout schools in Sunderland so it is useful to pass onto your child's Reception teacher when they leave Siblings Nursery.

Any observations, planning and assessments that we do for your child is to support the Every Child Matters - Outcomes for Children.  Our main priority is to provide learning activities that match your child’s developmental skills, their interests and emotional needs. Our aim is to create, inquisitive, well adjusted eager learners with the sound foundations they need, to move to school with confidence.

Continuous Improvements

Continuous improvement is how we demonstrate our total commitment to early education. Our professional development programme for the staff team is monitored by the management team to ensure we continue to provide the best possible care for each of our children.  The Management Team attend seminars, training and conferences to keep up to date with ever changing legislation, policies and procedures.  All training have a commitment to feedback to the rest of the team in staff meetings.

We were one of the first private nurseries in Sunderland to be delivering the EYFS using the Huddersfield Early Excellence Centre Planning and senior staff have accessed training to put this into practise effectively. We have disseminated this planning throughout the nursery, training our staff to celebrate children’s learning and achievements. Our childcare professionals have had training from some very influential national and international educational consultants such as Ros Bayley, Claire Warden, Margy Whalley, Kate Reed and Neil Griffiths to name a few.
